Camping has been missing from my life since going to Bonnaroo and I miss being grungy and all up in nature. But, camping with my parents was completely different from camping with my friends. Should’ve been obvious, right? I mean in more ways than one.
The mere amount of stuff they brought was ridiculous. It was like Iron Chef vs. Hunger Games.
Not that I didn’t love the 50-gallon cooler of food that we brought or the 4 cots. But it was somewhat like we were removed from nature. I did not feel as homo sapien like as I did at Bonnaroo. There, we had to really use our brains to survive the threat of heat stroke.
Easily solved that by not showering the whole time. Grunge experience. I wholly believe that not showering (and eating 500 calories a day) through Bonnaroo is what gave me great complexion for months afterwards.
We climbed some dunes…
Which was actually a serious workout (mainly because I’m
so out of shape sick)
Me trying not to pass out as my brother gallops easily to the top.
But we had some fun taking pictures.
We also spent a day at the beach. I may or may not have gotten sun poisoning because I am exhausted today.
Of course, it wasn’t without some mishap… during one of our explorations, we found the mud pits and spent the rest of the day walking around like zombies. It was about 1/4 of a mile’s walk back to the parents and I can honestly say that I’ve never felt more like the phantom from Phantom of the Opera if he casually walked alongside the lakeshore.
Which led to more photo ops.
No one has ever told me about the slimming effects of mud! If I could, I’d walk around caked in mud all the time to avoid looking like this…
More like Babewatch, am I right? Jk, let me go cry in a corner. I think I’ll use this as a BEFORE pic for my fitness goals.
The sunset was beautiful to watch, though.
Which led to a night by the bonfire under my brother’s bonfire-dictator regime. Don’t let his charming smile fool you.
I’m a little sad that it was over so fast, which meant a more equal work-to-fun ratio. I passed out after returning home today. I think it’s been a combination of poor eating habits, poor sleeping habits, and a lot of dune climbing. So starting tomorrow (last Wednesday), I’ll be starting a juice fast.
Here’s a preview…
Truthfully, I’m a little excited to get started. It’s been so long since I’ve been back on track and felt good and I’m sure you guys are tired of hearing me bitch about it! I’m unsure of how long I’m going to continue because there’s so much shit in my body right now.
Of course, I’m going to keep you all posted!
… if I survive…
