Get it? Get it?? ;D
Friday, the girls and I finally made it up to the Bastille to see a sunset!
The plan was to have yet another one of our picnics once we reached the top—some motivation to get us through the endless, grueling flights of stairs we had to climb in order to get there.
Mine turned out to be a heart attack surrounded by carbs. I had never tried french butter before and I told my friend (who was the darling making the sandwich for me… what a woman :p ) to line the sides with butter even though the sandwich already contained a shit ton of cheese.
One the way up, we ran into all the missing runners from Grenoble. For a while, we’d all been wondering why no one runs here. It’s because the flat lands of the city aren’t challenging enough for these Grenobloise. They need to run up the slopes that I have a hard time walking on.
Once we were up there, we realized that it’s almost impossible to see a sunset here because of the mountains. Unless you count the sun setting over the mountains, but it’s not exactly the same effect as the sun setting over a watery horizon.
After drinking in all that we could, we rode the blue balls back down across the Isère. It was a little freaky and moved faster than we thought it would, but absolutely beautiful. Except for the moment when we all realized that the ball was still open.
But we made up for it by planning our escape route if we did, indeed, fall into the river.
