If it weren’t for the paella, I would’ve forgotten we had four days in Barcelona. One of the guys that worked the front desk at the hostel recommended this one place for paella.
We know this place was authentic when we took a road a while away from the nearest metro stop to find another smaller road. The owner was also the chef and the waiter and he couldn’t speak a lick of English.
Barcelona is most famous for its seafood, so it made sense to order the seafood paella. And it was delicious. The seafood was extremely fresh—and GIGANTIC.
At the end, a waitress came up with a bottle of a local brand of Bailey’s. “It is for the house,” she says with a smile. We stare at her in confusion. What house? She repeats it again until one of us realize that she mean it was on the house because we came as a recommendation from our hostel.
